The Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology Research Center (CINN) is a joint research center established in 2007 by institutional initiative of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), The Government of the Principality of Asturias and the University of Oviedo.

The CINN combines a high-quality and internationally competitive interdisciplinary research with scientific and technological demonstration activities and has among its objectives the creation of new technology-based companies. In order to ensure an adequate exploitation of the research results, the CINN works closely and successfully with ITMA Materials Technology.

CINN's research focuses on the "Controlled Design of Multifunctional Multiscale Materials" aiming at the development, characterization and full understanding of new multifunctional materials at the nano, micro and macro scales, in order to overcome the limitations of current materials and processes.
