Synthesis and Advanced Characterization of Nanocomposites and Bioinspired Materials
The present research subline covers from the synthesis of the nanopowders to their consolidation in dense nanostructured materials, including the analysis of their physical (mechanical, optical, electrical…) properties, providing a deep emphasis on the study of the sintering processes and on the advanced characterization of both dense bulk and interfacial structures by making use of synchrotron light. In order to be able to characterized precisely the structure of the materials under study a research group highly especialized in the development of novel characterization techniques is involved in this research line.
One particular kind of materials that draw our interest are bioinspired materials in which the coupling of biological inspiration with nanoscale design, leads to enhanced performance and materials properties.
